Instructions for cooker fitter (Gas safe registered in - UK)

First decide the position that the on/off valve is to be fitted.

       It should be 50cm/20 inches from the floor and approximately 10cm to 30cm (4 to 12 inches) from left hand side of the range, depending on where the gas inlet is on the range is

     To protect the valve (part of the socket that accepts the hose from the range) the socket must face downward therefore the on/off valve is secured in the vertical position with the supply entering at the top of the valve.

       Then decide supply fitting to be used (either solder or compression). A supply pipe of 15mm is required,(half inch in the USA) if unable to bend the pipe to fit into the top of the valve with capillary (solder) or compression fitting alternatives in the kit are 90° elbows for capillary or compression to be screwed into the top of the lever on/off valve to meet a supply from left or right (to be screwed into valve before securing valve to the wall with the straps screws and plugs also in the kit).

 If the supply is from the floor, 90° elbows should be fitted by the installer 50cm/20 inches from the floor and connect to the elbow fitted to the on/off valve with a length of 15cm.pipe.
It is a requirement that when the installation is complete, it should be tested for soundness (leaks) before the gas stove/range is attached (then tested again when attached). Before testing, check that all screwed parts are screwed tight and that a gas sealant on the thread is used. A non setting gas sealant is recommended suitable for gas supply to be used (not gas in liquid form). There are a number of pipe joining compounds that can be used for natural gas (not LPG). Finally fit and attach the cooker stability chain provided, this is a safety requirement.
